In 1990, the United Association Instructor Training Program began meeting in Washtenaw County. Each year, Haab’s has commissioned a pewter-and-glass swizzle stick depicting a different aspect of the plumbing and pipefitting industry. As the collection expanded, the unique design of the swizzle sticks created a national reputation.
In 2009, the NJATC (the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry), recognizing the excellent training facilities available here, also moved their training program to Washtenaw County.
In the summer of 2010, the Ironworkers International also moved their training program to our community.
